Oak Brook Village Board welcomes new Trustee John Anos

At the May 19th meeting of the Village Board of Trustees, Village President Larry Herman appointed longtime Oak Brook resident John Anos to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of James Nagle.

Anos has been actively involved in the Sports Core Committee for the last decade, most recently as chairperson.   He’s proud of the Sports Core’s positive financial transformation that has resulted in more transparency and user experience improvements such as the swimming pool climbing wall at the Oak Brook Bath & Tennis Club and the new covered hitting bays at the Oak Brook Golf Club driving range.

Most weekends, you’ll find Anos, a left-handed golfer, on the course at Oak Brook Golf Club. His favorite hole at the course is the par 5 13th hole.  “That hole is a test of every shot you have in your bag.  It is the most challenging.”

His passion for Oak Brook Golf Club led him to raise his hand for the community: “I love the saying ‘You don’t do it for the applause, you do it for the cause.’”  Continuing on, he shared that “Oak Brook has a lot of talented people and I encourage my fellow residents to get more involved. Come to meetings, talk to trustees and see how you can make a difference.”  In his new role as trustee, Anos will prioritize Village safety and the continued success of the Sports Core.

Anos and his wife Pat raised their family in Woodside Estates. Career-wise, he is a lifelong sales professional in the packaging and paper industry. Today, Anos resides in the Oak Brook Club and loves dining out in Oak Brook at favorites such as The Purple Pig, Lucca Osteria, Gibson’s Steakhouse and Wildberry.

Village President Larry Herman shared, “When making this appointment, I wanted someone with a proven record of involvement and service in our community. John Anos was raised in Oak Brook and has been an active, and engaged resident who has devoted significant time and effort to Oak Brook. His leadership as Chair of our Sports Core Advisory Committee was instrumental in radically improving the Sports Core’s financial stability.  His commitment to the Village has been evident throughout his years of service, and I am confident he will bring that same dedication to his role as Trustee.” ν
