Eyes on Butterfield

When Dr. Hina N. Patel opened Eyes on Butterfield in 2022, she did so with a clear purpose: to create a practice that feels personal, modern, and deeply rooted in the community. As an Elmhurst resident and mother of three, she understands firsthand the importance of proactive care—especially for children.

One of the most important areas of focus in her practice is myopia management, a growing need among children today. With increased screen time and near work, more kids are becoming nearsighted earlier in life—and without intervention, prescriptions can worsen over time.

“Many parents think glasses are the only option,” Dr. Patel explains. “But today, we can actually slow how quickly a child’s prescription changes.”

At Eyes on Butterfield, families are introduced to advanced treatment options designed to stabilize vision and reduce the risk of high prescriptions later in life. These include:

  • Orthokeratology (Ortho-K): Nighttime lenses that gently reshape the eye—similar to retainers for teeth—allowing children to see clearly during the day without glasses or contacts.
  • Specialty soft contact lenses: Designed to control myopia progression.
  • Myopia-control glasses lenses: Innovative lenses that help manage eye growth while maintaining clear vision.

For many patients, these options also offer something even more appealing—freedom from daytime glasses or contacts without surgery. By wearing custom lenses overnight, children and even adults can enjoy clear vision throughout the day—no LASIK required.

Dr. Patel’s clinical background brings an added level of trust and expertise. She completed her residency at the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute—ranked the #1 ophthalmology hospital in the United States by U.S. News & World Report—and is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.

At its core, Eyes on Butterfield is built on a simple philosophy: care should be proactive, customized, and centered around the patient. Dr. Patel is committed to helping her community see clearly—now and in the future.
