Dr. Matthew S. Hamedani — Cameo Dental Specialists

For Dr. Matthew S. Hamedani, oral and maxillofacial surgery offers the opportunity to relieve pain, repair injuries, and restore a patient’s quality of life.

“I could be removing someone’s wisdom teeth today and repairing a mandible fracture tomorrow,” Hamedani says. That variety keeps the work meaningful. The specialty combines dentistry, medicine and surgery, preparing him to treat advanced conditions affecting the mouth, face and jaws.

Hamedani brings that experience to Cameo Dental Specialists, where oral and maxillofacial surgeons, endodontists and periodontists collaborate under one roof. Patients can receive care ranging from root canal therapy and gum disease treatment to wisdom tooth removal and treatment for facial injuries.

“Each specialty has unique expertise,” Hamedani says, “and our multidisciplinary environment ensures we are providing the best care to our patients.”

Cameo offers same-day appointments for patients in pain and works to schedule other visits promptly. Team members help patients understand their insurance coverage and provide clear pricing before treatment begins. Hamedani says every patient is treated “as if they are a member of our own family.”

He also encourages patients not to wait for discomfort before seeking care. “Pain-free does not mean disease-free,” he says. Preventive treatment can help patients avoid pain, added expense, and more complicated procedures later on.

Hamedani’s commitment to continued learning extends beyond the practice. He is a clinical assistant professor of surgery at Loyola University Chicago Stritch School of Medicine and chair of the Department of Dentistry at MacNeal Hospital. Teaching residents and working in a hospital setting give him opportunities to keep growing professionally and bring that experience back to his patients.
