Naper Grove Vision Care

Dr. Michael Halkias

For families across Downers Grove, Hinsdale, and the western suburbs, quality eye care has meant one thing for more than seven decades: Naper Grove Vision Care. Today, under the leadership of Dr. Michael Halkias, now the sole owner of the 77-year-old practice, the business continues to grow by building on its longstanding reputation.

“Taking full ownership of this long-standing practice has been incredibly meaningful,” says Dr. Halkias. “Growing up in Naperville, joining the team in 2006, and now raising my family in Hinsdale gives me a deep personal connection to the trust we have built across generations of patients.”

Over the past year, the practice has undergone significant expansion, growing into a newly renovated 9,000-square-foot space in Naperville. Naper Grove Vision Care has also added new services, including a dedicated Dry Eye Clinic for lasting relief from a common but frustrating condition, myopia management to help protect children’s vision for the future, advanced care for difficult-to-fit contact lenses, and the ability to treat emergency eye concerns right away. The addition of a ninth optometrist rounds out the dedicated team.

Despite these advancements, the foundation of the practice still comes back to relationships. Dr. Halkias has long emphasized the importance of listening first, building trust, and delivering an experience that exceeds expectations. “We build relationships that last a lifetime,” says Dr. Halkias.

Dr. Halkias also emphasizes that eye care plays a critical role in overall health, noting that many conditions can be detected early through routine exams—even when vision appears normal. As the field of optometry continues to evolve, technological advancements also enable more informed care.

“We’re proud to embrace advancements in our field—including artificial intelligence and specialized treatments—because they allow us to deliver more precise diagnoses and better outcomes,” Dr. Halkias says. “At the same time, we remain dedicated to the personal, attentive care that makes our practice feel like a neighborhood family eye care provider rather than just another clinic.”

Naper Grove Vision Care is a practice that continues to grow but still feels personal. Dr. Halkias and team continue to build on their legacy while meeting the ever-changing needs of their patients.
