Taste of Oak Brook

OB _IN THE KNOW - taste

Dining, music, and fireworks in a standout setting

The Taste of Oak Brook has firmly established itself as one of the premier summer holiday celebrations in the Chicagoland area—an event that goes beyond fireworks to deliver an elevated, community-centered experience. Known for its exceptional lineup of top-tier restaurants and dynamic live music, the Taste consistently draws crowds seeking both quality and atmosphere. What truly sets it apart, however, is its setting: the beautiful green space of the Oak Brook Sports Core—269 open acres where connection and neighborly spirit complement the cuisine and entertainment. Families gather in matching red, white and blue, sharing chairs and blankets with neighbors and friends, creating a welcoming environment that continues to define this standout July 3rd tradition year after year.

This year, with the holiday falling on a Friday, gates will open early at 2 p.m., giving attendees extra time to enjoy “taste” portions from a wide range of local restaurants and food vendors, featuring both beloved favorites and exciting new culinary creations. From savory classics to sweet treats, there is something to satisfy every palate. Families will find plenty to enjoy, with complimentary activities for kids including face painting, balloon artists, and inflatable attractions designed to keep younger guests engaged throughout the evening.

Live music sets the tone for the evening, beginning with Whiskey Friends, a Morgan Wallen tribute band delivering a high-energy mix of hits and fan-favorite ballads. Headliner 16 Candles returns by popular demand, bringing their signature blend of 1980s nostalgia, strong musicianship, and crowd-pleasing fun that keeps audiences on their feet.

As night falls, the sky becomes the main attraction. For the third consecutive year, the event will feature a cutting-edge drone show incorporating patriotic themes in honor of America’s 250th anniversary. The evening concludes with a vibrant 22+ minute fireworks display, creating a memorable tribute to both community and country.

Taste Committee Chairman and Trustee Michael Manzo recently reflected on the event’s continued success, noting that last year saw record attendance of nearly 40,000 and guests from as far away as New York state. “The Taste is one of Chicagoland’s most anticipated summer events. It does an amazing job of showing off the dining and hospitality scene in Oak Brook, which continues to expand year after year.”
